Instagram Bio Generator

This Instagram bio generator writes short bio ideas from your niche, audience and tone, with a live character count on every one. Pick one you like, tweak it, then copy it straight into your profile.

There’s a TikTok tab too, which keeps ideas within TikTok’s shorter limit. Everything runs in your browser, with no login and nothing saved on our side.

    How the bio generator works

You tell it who you are and how you want to sound, and it fills proven bio templates with phrases from your niche. Because it runs on your device, results appear as soon as you tap.

    1. Choose Instagram or TikTok.
    2. Add your name or brand, and what you do.
    3. Say who you help, if you want to.
    4. Pick a tone: professional, friendly, funny, aesthetic, minimal or bold.
    5. Then turn emoji, line breaks, a location or a call to action on or off.

Each card shows a counter such as “123/150”, which turns red if a bio runs long. You can edit any bio in place, and the copy button keeps your line breaks.

Instagram and TikTok bio character limits

An Instagram bio can be up to 150 characters, according to Instagram’s Help Center. A TikTok bio is shorter, and TikTok Support says bios can’t go over 80 characters.

On both apps, spaces, line breaks and emoji count toward the total. However, links on Instagram go in a separate Links field, so they don’t use up your bio. Also, some emoji, like flags or skin-tone emoji, and fancy-font letters can count as more than one character. That’s why the counter in the tool counts the way the apps do.

On TikTok, some users report seeing a longer bio box. Still, 80 is the official figure, so the tool writes to 80.

    A simple bio formula

Most good bios answer four quick questions: who you are, what you offer, why someone should care, and what to do next. You don’t need all four every time, but it’s a handy checklist.

    • Who: your role or name (“Home baker”)
    • What or who for: what you share or who it helps (“easy weeknight bakes”)
    • Proof or personality: a detail that makes you you (“3 kids, 1 tiny oven”)
    • Call to action: what to do next (“๐Ÿ‘‡ new recipe every Friday”)

Put together, that’s: “Home baker | easy weeknight bakes | 3 kids, 1 tiny oven ๐Ÿ‘‡ new recipe every Friday”. It’s about 80 characters, so it even fits a TikTok bio.

    Bio ideas by niche

Here are a few examples in the styles the tool writes. The counts are approximate, so check the tool’s counter for your final version.

    • Fitness: “Strength coach for busy mums ๐Ÿ’ช 20-min home workouts | DM ‘START’ to join” (about 72)
    • Food: “Plant-based recipes that taste like takeaway ๐ŸŒฑ new video every Sunday” (about 70)
    • Beauty: “Skincare for sensitive skin, explained simply โœจ honest reviews only” (about 66)
    • Gaming: “Cozy games + chaotic commentary ๐ŸŽฎ live Tue & Thu” (about 48)
    • Travel: “Slow travel on a budget ๐ŸŒ currently: Lisbon | guides ๐Ÿ‘‡” (about 54)
    • Small business: “Handmade candles from Leeds ๐Ÿ•ฏ๏ธ small batches, big smells | shop below ๐Ÿ‘‡” (about 72)
    • Creators: “Explaining money stuff without the jargon | new video every Mon” (about 63)

Instagram vs TikTok bios: what’s different?

The biggest difference is space. TikTok gives you about half the room, so each word has to work harder.

Links work differently too. Instagram lets you add links in their own field, without using bio space. On TikTok, the website link field isn’t open to every account, so check your Edit profile screen to see if you have it. As a result, TikTok bios often lean on a short call to action instead.

    Common bio mistakes

The usual problems are easy to fix once you spot them.

    • Too long. If it gets cut off, people miss your best line.
    • No call to action. Tell people what to do next, even if it’s just “new video Fridays”.
    • Keyword stuffing. A list of hashtags reads like spam.
    • Fancy fonts. Stylised letters can be hard for screen readers and may not show up in search. So keep key words in normal text.

    FAQ

    Do emojis count as characters?

Yes. Every emoji counts toward your bio limit on Instagram and TikTok. Some, like flags or emoji with a skin tone, can count as two or more. The counter in our tool counts them the same way, so you’ll know if a bio is close to the limit before you paste it.

Do links count toward the Instagram bio limit?

No. Instagram has a separate Links field on your profile, so links don’t use any of your 150 bio characters. That leaves the bio free for who you are and what you post. A short line like “links below ๐Ÿ‘‡” can point people to them.

What should I put in my Instagram bio?

Start with what you do and who it’s for. Then add one personal detail and a call to action, such as when you post next. Keep it plain and specific. A bio that tells a stranger why to follow you in a few seconds usually works best.

Can I use fancy fonts in my bio?

You can, but use them sparingly. Fancy-font letters are special symbols, so screen readers may read them oddly. They can also count as more than one character, and search may not pick them up. For your main keywords, stick to normal text.
